Registration of Cottage Scale Industry is one of the primary activities of the department. The department seeks required clearance from relevant agencies and accords approval for registration, based on which the concerned Regional Office of Industry, Commerce and Employment (RoICE) issues the Registration Certificate.
Cottage-scale industries are defined as industries with an investment (total fixed capital investment) of less than Nu.1 million and engaging up to 4 people. If there is conflict between investment and employment, investment will take precedence.
Eligibility criteria to apply for cottage scale registration certificate:
- A person having attained the age of 18 years and above
- A person without any adverse record as verified electronically or otherwise from the Security Clearance System of Royal Bhutan Police.
