The Department of Industry, Ministry of Industry Commerce and Employment has established a cottage and small industry (CSI) market in Changzamtog, Thimphu in 2020 to serve as a dedicated retail platform for locally manufactured goods. The Market aims to promote local CSI products in both domestic and international markets. 

The market operates on a public-private partnership model, where the government provides infrastructure, furniture and equipment, while the day-to-day management and operation are carried out by a private operator.

The Department is now looking for an active and enterprising individual/entity to operate and manage the market starting from 1st February, 2026 for a period of five (05) years, extendable based on performance. Interested candidates fulfilling the following criteria and concurring to the Terms of Reference (ToR) are encouraged to apply for the post of Market Operator by 10th November, 2025:

a) Minimum class 12 passed. Preference to be given to those with higher academic backgrounds related to business.

b) Preferably with experience in retail management or shop operations and knowledge of local industries.

c) Strong interpersonal skills with passion to work with local producers and international customers.

d) Individual/entity with capacity and willingness to mobilise and invest adequate financial resources for inventories
